Connected Conservation Foundation is a registered UK Charity. We raise funds to support projects that deploy on-the-ground technologies, to protect the environment, safeguard wildlife, and uplift local communities.
Our vision is to help eliminate poaching, provide education, and create new employment using technology.
Stopping poaching
By deploying on-the-ground technologies, we can detect and respond to suspicious activity in the field. We reduce the time it takes reserve management to respond to threats before any harm is done to the wildlife. By creating a virtual boundary and a connected, protected area, we’re able to protect species and those charged with their safety. By connecting multiple types of technology, we’re able to identify individuals with dubious intent, and proactively stop illegal activity. Furthermore, by tracking the movement of people, not animals, we leave wildlife to roam free, undisturbed and unharmed.
Protecting habitats
Only 12% of the world’s land is protected and must be maintained. Encroachment from small scale agriculture and livestock threatens habitats and there is increasing competition for grazing. This is made worse by flooding and drought brought about through climate change. Through technology, we’re supporting the management of protected reserves. Deploying environmental monitoring technologies, we help conservationists monitor and manage local eco-systems.
Sustainable impact
Technology needs to be maintained over time and its benefits transferred into long term impacts for nature. The Foundation understands the need to be in for the long haul and has an acute focus on supporting long lasting partnerships.
Community
Conservation success is achieved when communities surrounding parks and reserves understand the value of nature and the importance of living in harmony with wildlife.
Only through collaboration and fostering local ownership of conservation technologies will we achieve long term impact. We work with a range of local management teams, providing training and education to those on the ground to handle the ongoing monitoring and control of the systems. Seeking to create responsibilities and employment in communities, so the project becomes self-sufficient and locally managed.
Innovation
We bring together the brightest minds to innovate and stay one step ahead of poachers and changing environments. We look for continuous improvements in the technologies we use and the way we deploy them. Working together with cross sector partners to co-create and harness new ideas and technologies for wildlife conservation and overall protection.
